Steps for Preparing the Lintel
Planning the Window Height:
The window is installed in line with the insulation, and the lintel height must be adjusted to allow the installation of the shutter box. The lintel height should be planned so that the shutter box can be concealed above the window opening.
Deepening the Lintel:
It is recommended to deepen the lintel to dimensions that allow for proper insulation. This prevents thermal bridging between the lintel and the shutter box, which is essential for the building’s energy efficiency.
Lintel Insulation:
Use appropriate insulation materials such as Styrodur or similar insulation to ensure good thermal protection. The insulation thickness should be at least 15 cm if additional insulation is already present. This helps reduce heat loss in winter and prevents overheating in summer.
Finishing the Window Reveal:
The window reveals are finished after the roller shutters are installed.
Creating a Notch in the Lintel:
In some cases, it is necessary to create a notch in the lintel to allow the roller shutter to rise above the window opening. This is important for maintaining natural light in the room and ensuring an aesthetically pleasing appearance.
Electrical Installations (If Required):
If you plan to have electrically operated roller shutters, ensure that electrical connections are pre-installed in the appropriate locations.
