Awning is an extremely useful blind that protects us from direct sun rays. One of the main advantages of awnings is easy installation, which does not require major construction work. Therefore, it is one of the more favourable solutions for many property owners. They are often found in yards and terraces of homes, catering establishments, pastry shops, shops, as well as schools and kindergartens. An additional advantage of awnings, which should be mentioned, is that they are easy to maintain.

When choosing an awning that will, on the one hand, suit your taste and serve its purpose, it is necessary to ask some key questions at the very beginning. Examples of such questions are:

• Which size of awning do you need. In other words, how big a space you want to shade.

If you want an awning of larger dimensions than the standard ones, we recommend the classic Orcus awning or the Haron cassette awning. Both are modular and thus, by combining several modules, we can cover surfaces up to 12 m wide and 3.60-5.10 meters deep. The Orcus awning is suitable for larger dimensions, so it is reinforced with stronger profiles. Regardless of the type of awning, we must remove it in a strong wind.

• What an awning should look like.

Possible versions are without a cassette or with a cassette. With an awning without a cassette the following finishing is possible: corrugated, rustic or straight. In the cassette version of the awning, no finishing is required. In the final appearance of the awning, the frame, consisting of a square bar, chains, arm, arm support, winding tube and other components, which is integrated into the box in the cassette awning, also plays an important role. Different colours of the mechanism are possible, according to the colour RAL chart. Therefore, we are sure that you will be able to choose the colour of the awning housing that is to your taste.

There are several purposes of the awning, which is why we can confidently say that the awning is one of the most useful things in your home. The original purpose of the awning is to protect against strong sunlight. In addition, they offer an ideal shelter from the scorching sun, UV rays and light rain. This is the main reason why many people decide to buy an awning. A common reason to buy an awning is also the shelter that awnings offer. In this shelter, you can hide from uninvited views. But not only that. They reduce the energy consumption of air conditioners during the day. They offer shade,  pleasantly cool the room and effectively reduce the amount of sunlight that enters your home. Natural light is a great advantage in your home, but glare can be quite uncomfortable. Finally, awnings represent a great aesthetic value, which is of course always welcome. Unlike the canopy, the awning is easy to install and does not require major construction works or a lot of maintenance.

The size of the awning is one of the key factors when deciding to buy it. The dimensions of these awnings are different. The average awning widths range from 300 - 600 cm, and the lengths range from 160 cm – 360 cm for cassette awnings and up to 510 cm for the classic Orkus awning. Awnings are useful and intended for shading in hot summer days when the sun is very hot. They offer excellent protection against UV rays and shade, which is truly beneficial in scorching days. You can be carefree knowing that your family and guests will be safe from the harmful effects of the sun even in the sunniest days of the year. Also, the awning fabric is waterproof and can be left open in light rain when there is no heavy downpour. We can sit under it in the light rain without any worries. But attention: heavy rain and hail can severely damage the fabric, destroy it. Also, most awnings should not be open in windy conditions. In case of wind, we recommend installing a wind sensor, which automatically closes the awning when it detects excessive oscillation. Awnings should not be used in snow and frost. That's why a retractable awning can be really handy in such weather conditions. You can close it and simply store it on a manual or electric drive to prevent it from being damaged by snow, ice, wind or hail.

 In light rain, we can sit carefree under the awning and listen to the raindrops. Light rain will easily flow off the front edge of the awning. With a longer, heavier hail shower, the blind must be closed immediately, as the awning may malfunction, as heavy rain causes an unnecessary load on the fasteners and arms. Even if you are not at home and you notice heavier precipitation on the app in your town, you can close the awning using the mobile app. If you close the awning when it is wet, as soon as it stops raining, you must open it to dry the canvas. Otherwise, mould appears on the awning. The mechanism is not affected by rain, thanks to double arms with a covered gearing or stainless chains. This is the solution of all our awnings, including the awning for the conservatory.

When thinking about an awning that would protect you from harmful UV rays, pay particular attention to the following things:

• Quality of the fabric: the fabric or canvas should not let UV rays through.

• Colour: think about the colour you will use.

When we want to hide from the scorching sun rays, we can quickly notice how important the tilt angle of the awnings is. Awnings in our offer have a tilt angle from 0° to 90°, depending on the type of awning. Although the answer to your question may seem quite evident and simple, this is not always the case. In case of strong wind, it is advised to close the awning, as it can severely damage the housing and the fabric. In extreme cases, the wind can damage the wall or roof where the awning is installed. You can also close the awning yourself, with a manual or electric drive. If there is an electric drive, the awning is operated by a switch, remote control or mobile app. This will allow you to operate the awning from the comfort of your armchair while a strong wind is blowing outside. What if you're away from your home or a location where you have an awning installed and don't always have your phone with you? How can you then prevent a strong wind from damaging your awning? In this case, we recommend installing a wind sensor, which automatically closes the awning when it detects excessive oscillation. This way, you will be able to ensure maximum safety for the awning even if there is bora wind outside or you are not at home.

For shading balconies, terraces or courtyards, awnings are a common and practical solution, as they do not require much maintenance. When buying an awning, you should also pay attention to the quality of the canvas, the strength of the structure and mechanism, the micro climatic properties of the location where the awning will be installed, the way the awning is operated and the appearance itself. The awning should match the exterior of your home. Tehrol awnings are easy to maintain and easy to care for due to the way they are made. It is very important to clean the awning regularly. Especially if you live near a coastal area, as the salt that is in the air can greatly harm the metal mechanism. Most awnings do not demand a lot of maintenance. Our advice for awning maintenance depends on the material. The awning fabric is protected by an impregnation coating, so the use of a pressure washer is not recommended. In the case of canvas awnings, we do not advise the use of a pressure washer. Never wash the awning fabric in the washing machine, as you can seriously damage the awning. Remember to prune branches from trees, vines and other vegetation to prevent stains or damage to the awning. Regardless of what materials your awning is made of, we recommend you the following steps:

• Remove all garden and other debris from the awning;

• Wet the awning, clean it with a soft bristle brush and a mild cleaning agent.

• Do not use the cleaning sponge as it may scratch the housing.

• Rinse thoroughly until all remnants of the cleaning agent are gone.

• Before storing the awning, the canvas must be completely dry.

• Do not stack wet awnings.
