Types of Fabrics for Pleated Blinds
Pleated blinds are generally divided into two categories: Classic fabrics and Duette fabrics.
Duette Fabrics
Duette fabrics, also known as "honeycomb" fabrics, are double-layered materials featuring a unique honeycomb structure. This design creates an air pocket between the layers, which acts as an insulator. As a result, Duette blinds offer excellent thermal insulation—reducing heat gain in the summer and preventing heat loss in the winter. Additionally, the cords in Duette blinds run inside the honeycomb structure, preventing light from passing through the holes, making them an ideal choice for total room darkening. Duette fabrics are often chosen for spaces where energy efficiency and optimal privacy are a priority.
Duette fabrics are available in two versions:
Transparent Duette Fabrics: These gently filter light, creating a pleasant ambiance in the room.
Blackout Duette Fabrics: These completely block light, making them ideal for bedrooms or spaces where complete darkness is needed.
Classic Fabrics
The classic fabric for pleated blinds is single-layered and has a distinctive accordion-like shape. This type of fabric is available in various degrees of translucency – from fully transparent to blackout. Classic fabrics provide basic sun protection and are suitable for spaces where you want to maintain natural light while preventing direct views into the room. Although they do not offer the same level of thermal insulation as Duette fabrics, classic pleated blinds are a more affordable and aesthetically flexible solution.
We divide classic fabrics into three types based on their translucency:
Transparent Fabrics: These allow natural light to pass into the room while providing basic privacy.
Semi-transparent Fabrics: These partially block light and create a pleasant illumination without glare.
Blackout Fabrics: These completely darken the room, making them suitable for bedrooms or other spaces where complete darkness is needed.
Some classic fabrics are additionally treated with a pearl coating, which enhances the reflection of sunlight and improves protection against heat and UV rays.
Decorative Fabrics
Fabrics are also distinguished based on decorative patterns. The available options are:
Solid-colored Fabrics that blend elegantly with the room.
Decorative Fabrics with Patterns that add a unique look to your space.
Children's Patterns that are the perfect choice for children's rooms, creating a playful and pleasant atmosphere.
